Fondazione SAFE participated in the Industry Day organised by the Italian Air Force’s Centro Tecnico Rifornimenti in Fiumicino, celebrating the Centre’s twentieth anniversary, where it presented its latest developments in Extended Reality (XR) technologies for CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) training.

During the event, Fondazione SAFE showcased an integrated ecosystem of immersive training solutions designed to make CBRN preparedness more realistic, accessible and operationally relevant, supporting organisations and first responders in developing the skills required to address increasingly complex scenarios.

The solutions presented included:

  • LVC Training C2 Vehicle, a mobile command-and-control platform designed to support civil and military exercises directly in the field while enabling the integration of XR technologies into conventional training environments.
  • CORE, VERSO (developed in joint venture with Altheria) and STANDALONE, an integrated software ecosystem supporting every phase of the training cycle by providing instructors, operators and organisations with advanced tools for planning, managing, assessing and improving operational readiness.
  • XR1403, developed in joint venture with OCEAN REEF Underwater, an XR-enabled CBRN protective mask that combines real protective equipment with immersive virtual environments to deliver highly realistic and effective training experiences.

These technologies are also part of Almost Real, Fondazione SAFE’s spin-off established following years of European-funded research, operational collaboration and technological development in the field of CBRN preparedness.

The Industry Day provided an excellent opportunity to engage with institutional representatives, armed forces, industry and technology stakeholders, fostering dialogue on the growing role of immersive technologies in shaping the future of CBRN training.
