Fondazione SAFE and Università Iuav di Venezia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a strategic partnership in the fields of security, innovation, critical infrastructure, urban planning and cultural heritage protection.
The agreement follows a visit by the University’s delegation to Fondazione SAFE’s Calvarina Training and Testing Centre and marks the beginning of a joint programme designed to leverage the complementary expertise of the two organisations.
The collaboration will focus on:
- developing European and international research projects;
- delivering specialised education and training programmes;
- testing, experimentation and validation of emerging technologies;
- advancing innovative solutions for the protection of cultural heritage and critical infrastructure.
The partnership brings together two complementary ecosystems. Università Iuav di Venezia contributes internationally recognised academic excellence, extensive experience in European research projects, the UNESCO Chair on Heritage and Urban Regeneration, and active participation in the PIONEER European University Alliance. Fondazione SAFE complements these strengths through the Calvarina Training and Testing Centre, certified within the NATO DIANA programme, providing a unique environment for the experimentation and validation of emerging technologies in realistic operational settings, together with its long-standing experience in supporting European and international initiatives in security, defence and civil protection.
At the heart of the agreement is a shared commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, connecting academic excellence with operational innovation to develop practical solutions capable of addressing today’s security challenges while contributing to safer, more resilient communities, infrastructure and territories.
