SAFE is proud of having participated at the eFair co-organised by e-Notice and Proactive on the 12th and 13th of May in Campus Vesta. Throughout the two days, we had the chance to present both Project VERTIgO and our VR scenario as well as participating in a CBRN exercise.

The event gathered key public and private stakeholders and end users in the CBRN and VR domain, including European Commission representatives and sector-related industries, allowing interesting exchange and exploring potential cooperations.

SAFE presented the EDIDP-funded project VERTIgO, focused on the creation and design of an innovative and inter-operable CBRN VR training system for EU military actors and civilian first responders’ requirements, called EESP (European Exercises Simulation Platform), paired with an integrated CBRN VR mask.

SAFE also presented its first XR scenario demo, which replicates an underground illegal lab and has been designed to train operators in conducting inspections and reconnaissance missions. The scenario was made possible by mapping and digitalizing SAFE’s XR Facility (former NATO base Calvarina), entailing multiplayer mode, allowing freedom of movement in the environment with its unique feature of being also portable.

Also, on May 13th SAFE participated in the interagency CBRN exercise with the role of evaluator. The exercise staged at Campus Vesta, was a complex set of scenarios simulating CBRN events in different settings, requiring an interagency response. Within the exercise, particular focus was given to the inclusion of vulnerable groups testing the capacity of the operators to ensure an appropriate and inclusive intervention.
