Fondazione SAFE successfully delivered its first Joint training session for EU Member States (EU MS) and South Partner Countries (SPCs) back-to-back with a Train the Trainer session within the VI phase of the EuroMed Justice Project, held in Verona from 30 March to 2 April 2026, bringing together criminal justice practitioners from EU Member States (EU MS) and South Partner Countries (SPCs). This EU-funded initiative covered key aspects of asset recovery, including legal frameworks, cryptocurrency basics, seizure and management as well as international cooperation mechanisms, combining theoretical input with hands-on practical sessions.
The initiative was structured in two complementary components. The first phase consisted of a Joint Training session dedicated to prosecutors and judges, with a focus on asset recovery and cryptocurrencies. The training aimed to enhance international cooperation and support more effective cross-border investigations across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Building on this, the second phase featured a back-to-back Train-the-Trainer session involving representatives from National Training Institutes of South Partner Countries who previously attended as observers in the joint training. Through a practical, case-based exercise culminating in final presentations, the trainers strengthened their capacity to design and deliver similar training activities at the national level, ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of the project.
Fondazione SAFE is proud to have contributed this intensive and highly engaging experience by enhancing the capacity of criminal justice authorities to tackle cross-border crime, promote a shared understanding of judicial cooperation tools, and foster lasting professional networks among judges and prosecutors across the European neighborhood.
