Last week, Fondazione SAFE took part in the 8th Joint Activity of the European eNOVATION project, hosted in Slovakia, bringing together representatives from civil protection, emergency response services and the Armed Forces for a week of specialised training and civil-military cooperation.

The activity combined demonstrations and testing of partner technologies with sessions on psychosocial emergency response and procedures for managing cross-border CBRN incidents. The programme culminated in a field exercise simulating a chemical incident, giving participants the opportunity to apply their knowledge and test innovative solutions in a realistic operational scenario.

Within the eNOVATION project, Fondazione SAFE contributes to strengthening preparedness and response capabilities against chemical and biological threats by assessing the integration of innovative technologies and validating an EU-Harmonised Evaluation Protocol across the training centres involved in the project.

During the Joint Activity, SAFE, in collaboration with Campus Vesta, also coordinated a roundtable discussion aimed at collecting feedback, experiences and insights from participants and experts. The exchange focused on identifying opportunities to improve and further refine the EU-Harmonised Protocol, one of the key outputs of Work Package 5.

Participation in these activities provides an important opportunity to bring together operational needs, specialised expertise and technological innovation, contributing to the development of shared tools for a more effective response to CBRN emergencies.
