On 29th of October 2021 representatives from over 20 EU countries met in The Hague for a problem-solving workshop sponsored under the OPFA WASTE Operational Facility Action Phase.
The event, organised by Guardia Civil in close collaboration with EUROPOL Envicrime, took place at EUROPOL premises and was the first project gathering in person after Covid19 long season of online meetings. Also for this reason, the proactive participation of Law Enforcement Agencies from several different countries resulted in an open and result-driven discussion, all of which determined a successful event.
The main aim of the workshop was to share intelligence and investigative methodologies referred to a transnational on-going investigation on illicit waste trafficking to enhance future operational actions’ outcomes with Law Enforcement Agencies involved in related or similar operative actions. At the same time, the workshop was useful to discuss the upcoming steps to be taken under the EMPACT Operational Action and emphasize the need for an effective flow of information sharing, involving EUROPOL, EUROJUST and OLAF as critical facilitators.
The Operational Facility is now open for application and the OPFA WASTE team is ready to take over your requests for support to on-going investigations. Do not miss the opportunity and follow us on our Twitter account @opfawaste for more updates on our activities!
