MEDI-THEFT concluded its first Online Validation Workshop

Posted on 1 October 2022

On the 27th of September MEDI-THEFT organised its first Online Validation Workshop, which saw the participation of more than 30 professionals, coming from both the public and private sector.

The workshop was opened by Kasper Ernest (Affordable Medicines Europe) and followed by several sessions on the state of the project, its objectives and its foreseeable outcomes.
A brief introduction was followed by a session on the current status of the theft of medicines’ phenomena, led by Transcrime, integrated by an intervention on best practices, led by AIFA.

A session was also dedicated to the MEDI-THEFT platform (led by Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato), outlining its objectives, structure, functionalities and how the current data gathering and analysis will help shape the platform and all the tools it will offer.

Lastly, a session on integration of data with the DATACROS module and risk assessment was presented by Transcrime.

The workshop was a significant event, which gave the Consortium the chance to involve a wider network of relevant stakeholders. Moreover, it was a chance to highlight how medicine-related crimes negatively affects public health and the economy, and how MEDI-THEFT can help prevent medicine theft and protect the health of citizens in Europe and beyond.
